'Bringing the Outside in'- Green Space Miami (March-May 17th 2025)

Born in Colombia and raised in Panama, Dahlia Dreszer is a photo-based artist addressing themes of identity, memory, and heritage. A graduate of Emory University specializing in photography, Dreszer challenges traditional still life arrangement by creating a multi-dimensional environment that invites viewers to reflect on the evolving nature of cultural identity.  Flowers, a significant part of the artist's identity, are methodically layered in compositions as symbols of the feminine and familial connection.

In collaboration with artificial intelligence, she further explores preservation and evolution, working with AI systems to interpret and extend these cultural expressions. This technological collaboration mirrors the immigrant experience of adaptation, where meaning is both preserved and transformed through new forms of understanding.

Returning to her Panamanian roots, the exhibition also includes images from her project documenting Kuna Yala women of Panama, highlighting the hands who create traditional Mola textiles. Dreszer delves deeper into her multicultural heritage by juxtaposing Jewish artifacts throughout the installation.

Bringing the Outside In is a place where home becomes a vessel for cultural memory and identity. Dreszer’s arrangements of flowers, family heirlooms, folk art with colors and patterns blur reality and artifice, transporting the viewer between household interiors and other worlds. Her visual language speaks of the transience of human cultures, suggesting that “home” is not a fixed place but a gathering of memories in the space we inhabit.
